Hylton Casting is now casting background actors to work in scenes filming in Atlanta, GA depicting a Detroit “Ghetto Fabulous” street party! We are casting standout FEATURED BACKGROUND performers to portray real, vibrant members of a Detroit neighborhood during a bold, fun, and authentic street party scene. All roles will be picture-picked by the director.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

  • Show Title: Diarra from Detroit – Season 2
  • Network: BET+
  • Synopsis: A divorcing, overworked teacher finds herself drawn into a cold case after a dating app matches her with a man she suspects is the adult version of a boy abducted in the 90s.

  • Portraying family, friends, neighbors, and gangsters at a block party depicting Detroit
  • Looking for standout, authentic, character-driven looks, such as:
    • Aunties, uncles, and grandparents
    • Gangster types with tattoos and grillz
    • Distinct hairstyles or bold hair colors
    • Bejeweled nails, streetwear, music video-inspired fashion
    • Individuals with distinctive teeth or smiles (i.e. missing teeth, grillz, teeth jewels, etc.)
    • Must be comfortable with bold style and camera attention
ROLE: Aunts & Uncles with Missing Teeth
  • Black / African American
  • All genders
  • Age Range: 18+
  • Look: Must have visibly missing teeth (especially noticeable when smiling or talking)
  • Type: Unique, expressive character faces with authentic energy
  • Important Submission Note: Must attach a current photo smiling that clearly shows your missing teeth in order to be considered.
ROLE: Gangsters
  • Black / African American Men
  • Ages 18+
  • Vibe: Real Detroit street energy – bold, dangerous, stylish
  • Look: Standout, authentic, character-driven appearances
  • Style: Grills, chains, tattoos, mean mug – Detroit drip
  • Types: ND shooters, runners, hustlers, street crew members
ROLE: OG with Scar
  • Black / African American male, father figure
  • Ages 18+
  • Portrays a respected neighborhood OG/gangster and the father of one of the principal cast members
  • Preferred: real visible facial scar or willing to wear FX makeup
  • Must have strong presence and a distinct character look
ROLE: Block Party Prom Kings & Queens (Featured Prom Goers)
  • Black / African American
  • Male and Female
  • Age Range: 18+ (must look high school age)
  • Scene Type: Detroit-style prom block party
  • Vibe: Bold, expressive, ghetto fabulous prom fashion (wardrobe will be provided)
  • Style Notes: Updos, blinged-out nails, grills, flashy looks
  • Bonus: If you can do the Blade dance, please note that on the submission form.
ROLE: Hair Girl
  • Black / African American female
  • Ages 18+
  • Will portray a prom-goer
  • Seeking someone with visibly messed-up edges
  • Will be featured specifically for this look

FILMING DATE

  • Tuesday, 7/29/25
  • Please note, this date is subject to change.
  • Must be available for a 12 hour filming day or longer on set.
  • Call time will not be provided until the day before the filming date. Please do not submit if you do not have open availability for the filming date listed above.

FILMING LOCATION

  • Atlanta, GA

RATE (IF HIRED)

  • Background Rate: $84/8 hrs
  • Please note, this is a flat rate of $84 total for working up to 8 hours. Any time worked over 8 hours will receive overtime (time and a half.)
  • Car Bump: $25 Car Bump if you are booked with your car for these scenes.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • To be considered, you must provide:
    • A recent, clear headshot (color, no filters, showing your current appearance)
    • A recent full body photo (straight on, full view)
    • A short video slate (see instructions below)
  • Please ensure that your photos:
    • Are recent (taken within the last 7 days)
    • Are taken in good, natural lighting
    • Reflect your current look (including hair color, length, and style)
    • Do not include hats, sunglasses, or filters
    • Are not heavily edited
  • In your video, please:
    • Clearly say your first and last name
    • State your height and weight
    • Share the city and state where you currently reside
    • Show your full body from head to toe
    • Dress in clothing that represents your personal style

BOOKING POLICY

  • Please note, Hylton Casting, LLC and the production Breakdown Productions, Inc. reserves the right to cancel any aspect of your booking (in whole or in part) at any time for any reason (including, without limitation, in connection with last minute production changes), regardless of whether you or the production has confirmed the applicable booking. If your booking is cancelled (either in whole or in part), you understand and agree that you are not entitled to any consideration in connection with such cancellation (including, without limitation, compensation, fees, reimbursement, expenses and/or other consideration).  Please make sure to check your email prior to arrival to the production location for any updates. If you have any questions, please email us at bookings2@hyltoncasting.com.
  • For all extras that are booked, we would like to inform you that it is our policy to overbook extras to compensate for last minute cancellations affected by weather, traffic, and other unforeseen circumstances. The formula we use to derive at our booking levels, is carefully applied and as conservative as possible while still fulfilling our responsibility of ensuring the required number of extras for the producers. Therefore, a confirmation email does NOT guarantee placement.  Once production is at full count, additional extras will not be signed in and therefore, will not be compensated. Extras that are signed in by production are not employed by Hylton Casting and will be compensated by the production company.
  • Hylton Casting and the production are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Your work and ANYTHING regarding this production is CONFIDENTIAL and cannot be shared via social media or otherwise. Individuals can and will be asked to leave set for taking pictures or putting information on social media. Phones may be used in holding for personal purposes only. Pictures cannot be taken at ANY time. If a photo is taken in holding or on set this is also grounds for immediate removal. You cannot talk to the press, blog, Facebook, tweet, or Instagram etc. about your experience or take any photos on set.
