Hylton Casting is seeking specialty background performers to portray a String Quartet on the BET+ series Diarra From Detroit Season 2. This is strictly a background/extra role, not a live performance engagement.
 
Important Note: Talent will be pantomiming/pretend playing only. No live music performance will take place on set.
 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

  • Show Title: Diarra from Detroit – Season 2
  • Network: BET+
  • Synopsis: A divorcing, overworked teacher finds herself drawn into a cold case after a dating app matches her with a man she suspects is the adult version of a boy abducted in the 90s.

SPECIALTY ROLES - STRING MUSICIANS

  • All genders and ethnicities, ages 18+
  • We will be casting:
    • 1 Violinist
    • 1 Violist
    • 1 Cellist
    • 1 Upright Bassist
  • Must be able to bring your own instrument for use as a prop in these scenes.
  • Will pantomime playing your instrument in background party scenes.
  • Scenes depict an upscale garden party at an estate with art collectors, museum board members, business executives, philanthropists, and socialites.

FILMING DATE

Monday, 9/15/25

  • Must be available for a 12 hour filming day or longer on set.
  • Call time will not be provided until the day before the filming date. Please do not submit if you do not have open availability for the filming date listed above.

FILMING LOCATION

  • Atlanta, GA

RATE (IF HIRED)

  • Specialty Background Rate: $31.25/hour ($250 guaranteed for 8 hours. Overtime paid after 8 hours at time and a half.)
  • Instrument Bump: $75 for bringing your own instrument 

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Please submit the following current photos:
    • A clear, recent selfie taken within the last 7 days
    • A recent, clear headshot (no filters, hats, or sunglasses)
    • A full-body photo (straight-on, full view)
    • A photo of your instrument
  • All photos must be recent, in natural lighting, unedited, and must reflect your current look (hair color, length, style).

BOOKING POLICY

  • Hylton Casting, LLC and Breakdown Productions, Inc. reserve the right to cancel any part of your booking at any time, including last-minute changes. If your booking is canceled, no compensation, reimbursement, or other consideration will be provided. Please check your email before arriving to set for updates. Hylton Casting may overbook background actors to ensure production needs are met in the event of last-minute cancellations. A confirmation does not guarantee placement; if production is at full count, you may not be signed in or compensated. Extras signed in on set are not employed by Hylton Casting and are paid directly by the production company. Your work and ANYTHING regarding this production is CONFIDENTIAL and cannot be shared via social media or otherwise. Individuals can and will be asked to leave set for taking pictures or putting information on social media. Phones may be used in holding for personal purposes only. Pictures cannot be taken at ANY time. If a photo is taken in holding or on set this is also grounds for immediate removal. You cannot talk to the press, blog, Facebook, tweet, or Instagram etc. about your experience or take any photos on set.
